BEST PRIMERS FOR
ANY SURFACE

Primers are the anchors for the new paint system. They provide excellent adhesion
for the new paint system before it’s applied. Primers therefore need to have good
adhesion to provide a surface that subsequent coats of paints can easily adhere to.

PINK WOOD PRIMER

An alkyd based wood-primer, suitable for interior and exterior surfaces. Excellent sealing and filling properties

  • Good sanding properties
  • Surface Dry: 4 Hours
  • Hard Dry: 16 Hours
  • Recoating Time: 16 Hours
  • Application: Brush or roller
  • Thinning: Top Paints’ Mineral Turpentine, thinning of first coat
  • Spreading Rate: 9 – 10m²/litre, depending on surface porosity
  • Cleaning: Top Paints’ Mineral Turpentine
  • Coats: 2, or more if required
  • Stir thoroughly with a flat paddle before and during use

New Surfaces:

Use sandpaper to sand wood to a smooth finish, work in the direction of the grain. Remove all dust. Ensure that all sharp edges are well rounded. Apply 1 coat of PINK WOOD PRIMER thinned with Top Paints’ Mineral Turpentine. Allow to dry and sand down. Remove all dust. Apply second coat. If more coats are required sand down second coat, remove dust. Apply third coat if required, sand down, remove dust and apply relevant top coat.

Old Surfaces:
If sections of wood have decayed, sand down to a sound surface and fill. Remove all dust. Ensure that sharp edges are well rounded. Apply 1 coat of PINK WOOD PRIMER thinned with Top Paints’ Mineral Turpentine. Allow to dry and sand down. Remove all dust. Apply second coat. If more coats are required sand down second coat, remove dust. Apply third coat if required, sand down, remove dust and apply relevant top coat.

Storage
Store away from direct sunlight, heat and severe cold. Keep container sealed and avoid moisture contact.

Caution
During Winter months painting should be restricted to between 09H00 and 15H00, in Summer painting can be done between 08H00 and 16H00. Exterior surfaces – Do not paint if rain is imminent.
