ROOF AND PAVING PAINTS
A superior quality weather resistant roof paint suitable for use on galvanized iron, cementitious roofs and on paving. Available in a variety of standard colours and tint bases.

- Drying Time: 30 Minutes – 1 Hour, depending on temperature

- Spreading Rate: 6 – 7m²/litre Galvanized Iron, depending on surface porosity
3 – 5m²/litre Rough Gritty Tiles, depending on surface porosity
5 – 6m²/litre Fibre – Cement and Brick, depending on surface porosity - Cleaning: Water
- Coats: 2
- Stir thoroughly with a flat paddle before use
Ensure that surface is firm, clean and thoroughly dry before painting. Algae and fungal growth must be removed. Use a biocidal wall wash, leave on the surface for at least 1 hour then brush surface with a hard bristle brush. Rinse with clean water until surface is thoroughly cleaned. Allow to dry. Use either Top Paints’ Roof Seal, with membrane, or Top Paints’ Fibre Seal, with or without membrane, to repair leaks, cracks, holes or defective flashing.
New Surfaces
Cement Tiles, Brick, Asbestos Cement:
Surfaces should be dry and free of loose particles. Hose down with a high pressure water jet or scrub with a hard bristle brush and water if necessary. Use Bonding Liquid as primer on sandy or powdery surfaces. Apply 2 coats ROOF & PAVING.
Galvanized Iron:
Clean with Top Paints’ Degreaser to remove fabricator’s pre-treatment oil, grease and other contaminants. Rinse with clean water until water break-free film is achieved, allow to dry. Prime with Top Paints’ Water-based Zinc Phosphate Primer, allow to dry. Apply 2 coats of ROOF & PAVING
Old Weathered Surfaces Not Previously Painted
Cement Tiles, Brick, Asbestos Cement:
If powdery or friable, hose down with a high pressure water jet or scrub with a hard bristle brush and water. Leave to dry. Apply Top Paints’ Bonding Liquid and allow to dry at least 24 hours. Remove fungus if present. Apply 2 coats of ROOF & PAVING
Galvanized Iron:
Remove any rust by means of wire brush, sandpaper or abrasive blasting. Paint sanded areas the same day, not to be left over night. Prime with Top Paints’ Water-based Zinc Phosphate Primer and allow to dry. Apply 2 coats of ROOF & PAVING
Previously Painted Surfaces
Cement Tiles, Brick, Asbestos Cement:
If the paint is chalked or powdery, hose down, allow to dry and apply Top Paints’ Bonding Liquid. Allow 24 Hours for Top Paints’ Bonding Liquid to dry. Apply 2 coats ROOF & PAVING. Perfectly sound paint, hose down, leave to dry and apply 2 coats ROOF & PAVING.
Galvanized Iron:
Remove loose flaking paint and rust, use Top Paints’ Water-based Zinc Phosphate as primer the same day as rust is removed. Leave to dry before applying 2 coats ROOF & PAVING. Perfectly sound paint, hose down, leave to dry and apply 2 coats of ROOF & PAVING.
New Cement tiles
Preferably the Roof Tiles should be left to weather for six months if not longer. If not possible tiles must be hosed down while all loose particles are removed by broom or steel brush. Remove in all instances loose particles as described above. Leave roof to dry. Dilute Top Paints’ Bonding Liquid, one part Top Paints’ Mineral Turpentine to five parts Top Paints’ Bonding Liquid. Apply Bonding Liquid by brush or by airless spray. Allow 24 hours to dry before applying 2 coats ROOF & PAVING.

Storage
Store away from direct sunlight, heat and severe cold. Keep container sealed and avoid moisture contact.
Caution
During Winter months painting should be restricted to between 09H00 and 15H00, in Summer painting can be done between 08H00 and 16H00. Exterior surfaces – Do not paint if rain is imminent.
