BEST PRIMERS FOR
ANY SURFACE

Primers are the anchors for the new paint system. They provide excellent adhesion
for the new paint system before it’s applied. Primers therefore need to have good
adhesion to provide a surface that subsequent coats of paints can easily adhere to.

TOP TEX

A highly textured paint that can be applied with a ripple roller to hide uneven interior and exterior surface defects.

  • Recoating Time: 24 Hours
  • Application: “Ripple” roller
  • Thinning: Not recommended
  • Spreading Rate: 2 – 4m²/litre
  • Cleaning: Water
  • Coats: 1
  • Stir thoroughly with a flat paddle before and during use

Ensure that surface is clean, dry and sound before applying. Plaster mix must be free from loose, friable and soft material, and have a minimum thickness of 10mm.

New Surfaces

Unglazed Brick and Building Blocks
Clean surface and apply TOP TEX directly.

Cement Plaster:
Apply 1 coat of Top Paints’ Plaster Primer, allow to dry and apply TOP TEX.
Old surfaces

Chalky Surfaces:
Remove loose powder and particles by high pressure water jets or wire brushing, allow to dry. Apply 1 coat of Top Paints’ Plaster Primer, allow to dry and apply TOP TEX.

Surface previously painted with emulsion paint:

Surface must be clean and sound, apply TOP TEX directly.

Surface previously painted with gloss or sheen paint:

Sand to matt finish, remove dust, clean surface and apply TOP TEX directly.

Surface in poor condition:
Strip surface down and treat as new work.

Storage
Store away from direct sunlight, heat and severe cold. Keep container sealed and avoid moisture contact.

Caution
During Winter months painting should be restricted to between 09H00 and 15H00, in Summer painting can be done between 08H00 and 16H00. Exterior surfaces – Do not paint if rain is imminent.
