CHEMICAL BASIS

Top Paints’ Hotrod MS Primer is based on a top quality acrylic resin system and cured with a hardener component based on isocyanate. High purity and fine particle size extenders are used to provide the best film packing and maximum strength. It provides quick sandability and excellent intercoat adhesion when overcoated with Top Paints’ Hotrod Refinishers.

GENERAL QUALITIES

• Top Paints’ Hotrod MS Primer has a high solid content resulting in the ability to achieve high build film thickness when necessary.
•  Can be overcoated with Top Paints’ Hotrod 2K Refinisher and Basecoats.
• Good filling properties and vertical stability.
• Easily sandable.
• Excellent drying properties.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Can be applied to bare or pretreated metal surface, but care should be taken that surfaces to be painted are clean, dry and free from dust, grease, oil or any other surface contaminants

Application

• Application: Spray only (use air fed respirator)
• Thinning: Top Paints’ 2K Thinners Thin up to 5%
• Cleaning: Top Paints’ 2K Thinners
• Mixing Ratio: 4 parts base component : 1 part hardener component
• Spreading Rate: ± 15m² / litre @ 28 microns dry film thickness
• Recommended: Dry Film Thickness (DFT) is 25 – 50 microns
• Application Viscosity: 16 – 18 seconds FC4 @ 25°C
• Flash off time: 15 – 30 minutes
• Drying Condition: Surface dry: 1 – 2 hours Hard dry: 8 hours Air / Force drying is possible
• Pot Life: 2 – 3 hours depending on temperature and thinning rate

• 1.7 – 1.9 mm Conventional: 3 – 4 bar, 2 – 3 coats: 50 – 80 microns
• 1.6 – 1.8 mm HVLP: 1.8 – 2.0 bar  Conventional: 3 – 4 bar 2 – 3 coats: 50 – 80 microns
• Orbital sander: P400 – P500
• Wet sanding: P600 – P800

• Storage: Away from direct sunlight, heat and severe cold Keep container sealed and avoid moisture contact

HEALTH AND SAFETY

• Ensure good ventilation during application and drying.
• Avoid skin and eye contact. Use safety glasses or face shield, appropriate gloves and protective clothing.
• Do not smoke, eat or drink while using the product.
• Store in a cool, dry place.
• Do not dispose of into natural water-ways or drainage system.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Consult a General Practitioner in case of contact with eyes or ingestion. Do not induce vomiting.
• Flammable – Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames or any other possible sources of ignition.
